REQUIRED VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION PROCESS

COACHES, ASSISTANT COACHES, TEAM MANAGERS, AND OTHER VOLUNTEERS

Silver Lake Soccer Club is a volunteer organization and a member of the North County Youth Soccer Association, Washington State Youth Soccer, and US Youth Soccer. All of our Board Members and Coaches are volunteers and donate their time, energy, and passion to the Silver Lake youth soccer community. Without people like you, this program can not function. While most volunteers come from the participant parent pool, anyone with a desire to promote good sportsmanship, life skills, and of course the development of soccer skills, is welcome and encouraged to join the program.

What? You think an in-depth knowledge of soccer and how to teach it to youth players is required. All that is needed is your passion! Silver Lake Soccer Club has several opportunities for advancing your own skills including training (online and in person), coach mentors, online resources, access to professional coaches, and more.

REGISTRATION PROCESS SUMMARY

With the ever changing demands to protect children from all forms of abuse and unfavorable conditions, all US Youth Soccer volunteers are required to complete a national background check as well as complete a few online training courses. This process is known as a Risk Management Application (RMA). Once all of the steps (listed below) have been completed, a volunteer is ready to be accepted to participate in a role for the Club. Currently, a completed and valid RMA expires annually on April 30th, however some of the online training certificates are valid for multiple years.

Starting in 2022, US Soccer requires their courses to complete the background check.  We strongly recommend reading the document created by Washington Youth Soccer RMA Instructions for Volunteers which covers specific information about linking your accounts across all providers.

Note: There is no guarantee a specific team (age or gender) is in need of a coach. Most available volunteer coaching needs are at the younger age groups.

REGISTRATION STEPS

Click the buttons below to follow the steps in order.

STEP 1

REGISTER WITH SILVER LAKE SOCCER CLUB AS A VOLUNTEER

Registration is done through the secure Stack Sports Registration System and can be done anytime Silver Lake Volunteer Registration is open (April 15th through October 31st).

You must register as a volunteer annually in order to participate.

Note: You will need to repeat registration as a volunteer for each age group you would like to participate in. For example, if you are coaching in Girls U10 and assisting in Boys U16, you will need to register once for Girls U10 and then again for Boys U16.

Follow these steps:

  1. Click the Sign Up button near the top right corner of the Silver Lake Soccer Volunteer Registration page.
  2. NEW Members will need to create a new account and password. You may already be entered into the system if you have registered players previously--use that account if it exists.
    - Please use Full Legal Names as you create your member account. These names should match what will you use when applying for a background check for Washington Youth Soccer below in Step 5.
  3. Choose the Select button for the role and age group you would like to register for.
  4. Select your name if listed or click the Sign up a new user to add your name to this account.
  5. Click the Continue button at the bottom of the page.
  6. Fill in or update any personal information.
  7. Click and accept each of the Authorization buttons.
  8. You can ignore the certificate upload buttons during registration.  Upload of these may happen automatically when you complete the courses.
  9. Click and accept the Silver Lake Volunteer Notice.
  10. Click the  Continue button at the bottom of the page.
  11. The Silver Lake Volunteer registration process is complete, you will be returned to your account home page.

STEP 5

ID VERIFICATION

All volunteers are now required to have their identification verified by a staff member of Silver Lake Soccer Club. Recently, there have been an increasing number of stories in the news about volunteers who enter incorrect identification information when filling out a background check application to avoid being detected as someone who would not be eligible to work with children. Verifying identification provides confidence to all families participating with Silver Lake Soccer Club that its volunteers match the identification information submitted for background checks.

Volunteer ID only needs to be verified once--registrations for subsequent seasons should not need verification as long as the same member account is used.

The easiest method of completing this step is to attend the coaches meetings that start off each season. If you are not able to attend those meetings, special arrangements will need to be made to meet with you and verify your identification.
