COACHES AREA
Recreational/Club soccer is for boys and girls ages 7-18. Boys and girls teams typically practice on school district fields twice a week starting in
August. Teams play a 10 week season beginning in September. Games are scheduled on Saturday and Sunday. Each team purchases their own uniforms (typically less than $30) and teams
may stay together over multiple seasons. All children are eligible to play - no tryouts are required. Scholarships are available.

Coach Responsibilities and Ethics
Silver Lake Soccer Club (SLSC) expects all of its volunteer coaches to read and understand all team and coach responsibilities and ethics detailed in the first few pages of the
North
County Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA) Procedures and Rules of Competition.
Coaches are also expected to have read and understand the following Code of Ethics document provided by Washington Youth Soccer (WYS) in 2009.
Age Group Coordinators
Each age group, e.g. U-09 Boys, has an assigned Age Group Coordinator (AGC) volunteer. This person is responsible for assigning you as coach and
assigning players to your team. They are also your primary contact with the club. Know your AGC. A list of the AGC volunteers will be online shortly. If you have questions about
your team, adding or removing players from your roster, game day, rules of competition or anything else ask your AGC.
2012 Practice Schedules (available approx July 29th) / Field Layouts
Practices are typically two one-hour sessions on Mon/Wed or Tues/Thur with the possibility of a Friday two-hour session instead and, depending on
field location, run from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM (see the request form). During the month of August, the Everett School District has limited the use of some fields. There are currently
over 100 teams that will practice and must be split into available fields during that time--SLSC may also use weekend time to be able to cover all requests.
Keep in mind that requesting a practice time of 6:00 PM or later on a non-lighted fields will run into daylight issues in the month of October--SLSC
can not accomodate requests to make up that time lost.
Practices will run August 1st through October 31st. Teams entering the WYS Recreational Cup can ask for practice times after that date.

If you need the Honey Bucket and Goal Lock codes contact your AGC. Please be sure to lock these resources up if you are the last one using
them.
Medical Release Form
Coaches are expected to have a signed medical release form for each player at all times including practices and games. Hand out this form during the first practice and have players
return it completed by the next practice.
Please help us update our birth date verifications. SLSC is currently in the process of asking parents to verify birth dates if we do not have a
current record--even if they have played previous seasons.
Club Uniform Order Information
2012 Flyer
Score Sports currently provides the club uniform, see the flyer (linked above) for item and order information. Coach or a designated team
parent/manager is expected to collect sizes, jersey number requests and payment from each player. A single order is then made through Score Sports. SLSC suggests collecting checks
from parents made out to coach or manager and then using a personal credit card to make the order. Other equipment is available and can be purchased through the Score Sports
website.
Based on past experience orders must be submitted by August 21, 2012 to have a chance for
delivery by the first game of the season. Orders made after this date--even if Score Sports indicates they can be delivered in a week--typically don't arrive in time. So please
order as soon as possible.
Coach Store - Equipment Ordering
2012 Equipment Form
Please contact Emily Myers at rmyersfamily@msn.com with orders or questions.
Each U-08 coach will receive a starter package consisting of four 9" cones, four youth pinnies, one mesh ball bag,
ten 2" disc cones and one First Aid Kit.
U-09 to U-18/9 Coaches receive a $35 credit in the coach store to add to their equipment each year, use the link
above to see the order form.
Alternate Jersey Information and Team Gear
Teams from age groups U-10 and below, often play other Silver Lake Socer Club teams. When this happens both teams will have identical uniforms. Also,
other soccer clubs occasionally have uniform colors that are similar to the SLSC uniform. Colored pinnies are a quick fix for this type of issue, however SLSC is providing an
optional alternate color jersey offered from All 4 You Logo Print (a local Mill Creek family owned business). The jersey is a simple grey T-shirt with a SLSC logo on the front and a
player number on the back for $8 plus tax.
All 4 You Logo Print is also offering team gear such as hoodie sweatshirts, backpacks, end-of-year gifts, jackets, blankets and more. Contact them
for more information.

U-08 Jamboree
The U-08 Jamboree and Parent Orientation is designed to introduce players and parents to recreational soccer format. This year's event will take
place on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Penny Creek Elementary. SLSC will provide fields, schedules and referees.
Game Schedules
Game Schedules and Coach Contact Information is provided via the NCYSA website. When 2012 schedules are available, your AGC will contact you with information on how to access your team's
schedule.
We are hoping game schedules for 2012 will be available online soon hopefully by 8/31.
Game Day Preparation
Season begins September 8th/9th, 2012
Coach Contact
The home coach is expected to contact their opponent coach prior to each game confirming
field location and time. This is also a great time to find out if there are conflicting jersey colors and to exchange team names. All necessary contact information will be
provided on the NCYSA website discussed in the schedule section above. Schedules occasionally change, this coach contact prevents travelling long distances to find out the field
or time changed--it happens more often than you might think. If your opponent is the home coach and has not contacted you by Thursday before the game, don't hesitate to call them
first.
Roster
As described in the coach responsibilities, the coach should provide a roster to the referee
and opponent coach. This roster should not include any player contact information which is found on the coaches version of the roster. If you provide jersey numbers to your AGC,
they can generate an official game roster with all of the appropriate information in PDF form for you--just ask. Or you can use one of the forms
below.

Jewelry
The Laws of the Game specifically prohibit players from wearing any jewelry (or decorative
object) of any kind--including earrings, studs, bracelets, wrist bands/ropes, etc... Medical Idenitification bracelets and necklaces are allowed. The referee should not have to
ask you or the players to remove these items. Coaches should teach players to simply not wear these items to games. You are also not allowed to tape over newly inserted earrings
to get around this issue--they must be removed. It would be best if players did not get new piercings during the soccer season.
Casts
North County Youth Soccer Association strictly prohibits all recreational soccer participants
from playing while wearing any form of cast or splint. Do not ask the referee if it is okay--they do not have that authority and risks negating player
insurance.
Game Formats/Rules
The Silver Lake Recreational Soccer Program is played according to the laws put out by FIFA and amended by NCYSA. Washington Youth Soccer uses a
"mod" soccer experience for age groups under U-12 where specific laws of the game, such as field size, number of players, free kicks and more have been modified to allow the best
learning experience for each of those age groups.
If you would like to become more familiar with the Laws of the Game you might be interested in this document, Laws of the Game Made Easy
from US Soccer.
A summary of the rules of competion for all age groups playing in NCYSA can be found at their website rules page where you can download the latest:
http://www.ncyouthsoccer.com/rules.htm.
Or you can download from our website: NCYSA Rules of Competion

Game Score Report
To promote the spirt of the game and the best learning experience for younger players, scores are only kept and recorded for U-11 age groups and
above. Each coach is required to report the score of each game on the North
County website. Contact your AGC if you need assistance with this.
