Message Aug 1 2020

August 1, 2020

Dear Silver Lake Soccer Club families:

Our club's mission is to provide youth recreational soccer opportunities in the communities we serve, and we continue to prepare to support this mission for the coming season. Although the club continues to prepare, COVID-19 considerations prevent us from solidifying the schedule and it is now expected that our return to play will be delayed. The remainder of this message elaborates on this dynamic situation, attempts to address common questions, and explains how we will continue to keep you updated with the latest information and thinking.

Soccer Practices

When will they start? Originally planned to begin 8/3, they will be delayed until:

  • Snohomish County enters a Safe Start phase that makes it feasible for teams to practice. (The rules keep changing but latest is that Phase 3 supports outdoor recreational sports activities with 50 or less participants which should allow for practices and games.)
  • Our North County Youth Soccer Association's Return to Play safety plan is approved by local health departments
  • The club has practice fields reserved for coaches to use (most organizations are not providing field reservations right now)

Soccer Games

When will they start? Game play is intended to start 9/12 but requires:

  • Snohomish County must be in a Safe Start phase that makes it feasible to play games. (The rules keep changing but latest is that Phase 3 supports outdoor recreational sports activities with 50 or less participants which should allow for practices and games.)
  • Our North County Youth Soccer Association's Return to Play safety plan needs to be approved by local health departments
  • Game fields need to be reserved (most organizations are not providing field reservations right now)

Games are scheduled to be played 9/12 through 11/15. If there is a delay in game play (either delayed start or mid-season delay) the season will end if teams will not have at least six weeks of play.

Your Coach and Team Assignments

We have not yet had our preseason coaches meeting, and coaches do not yet have their team rosters. However, we intend for this to occur soon and coaches will be encouraged to contact you when they receive their roster.

Can I Still Register?

Late registration for Fall 2020 Soccer is limited to open roster spots on available teams.

How Might COVID-19 Change Things?

What protocols will be followed? How can this work with COVID-19? Although these guidelines can change, you can read Washington Youth Soccer Return to Play Guidelines to get a sense for what you will likely need to know as a parent.

COVID-19 Refund Policies

We have refund policies covering full and partial season cancellation, and for situations where you do not feel comfortable due to COVID-19 concerns. These COVID-19 refund policies can be found on our club website.

Conclusion

We remain hopeful that soccer will return to play this season and are doing our best to be ready to go when the COVID-19 hurdles are cleared. We will continue to keep you informed via:

Sincerely,
